The 5th Border Collie National will be held at the purpose-build Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs at Dogs NSW, which boasts specialised facilities for conformation judging, herding, agility, obedience, as well as facilities for an array of sporting events including endurance, earth dog, lure coursing and field retrieving trials. This scenic heritage-listed site is the home of dog sports in NSW.
Visitors and guests will enjoy watching the formalities of the National ringside, under the shade of beautiful Australian native eucalyptus trees. On-site vendors offer ample catering for food and hot beverages, as well as access to a complimentary exhibitor refreshment station. Entry to the Dogs NSW grounds is free.
The Dogs NSW Grounds are located an hour west of Sydney’s CBD and airport in the growing Western Sydney corridor. For those travelling by car, it is conveniently connected by road in short distance from the M4 and M7 motorways. We advise checking the TransportNSW website if you plan to travel by public transport.

The Official Opening of the 5th Border Collie National will be held on the Friday evening, 11th October 2019. All our exhibitors and guests are invited to attend. This is a free-to-attend event. The opening will be from 5pm in the historic Rotunda at the Dogs NSW Grounds.
As part of the Official Opening, and in keeping with the tradition of the 4th Border Collie National in Queensland 2016, the club will be again running the 'Judy Vos Memorial' Breeders Team Challenge. This will take part at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony at approximately 6pm in the breed ring. Entry online via ShowManager.
One of the highlights of every National is the Presentation Dinner & Closing Ceremony. This year the event will be held on the Sunday evening 13th October at the Hubertus Country Club, just 10 minutes drive from the Dogs NSW Grounds. The event will be informal with a buffet dinner, so no formal bookings for 'tables' are required - simply book and pay for yourself! There is ample seating for guests to use during dinner both inside and out on the deck overlooking the grounds, and excellent provisions for trailer parking.
Bookings for the Presentation Dinner are essential. Tickets are $50 each and must be booked and paid for by 20th September 2019 (new extended closing date).
- Exhibitors - please book and pay for your tickets when completing your online entries. This can also be completed via ShowManager by visitors with an existing ShowManager or DogzOnline account.
- Visitors & Guests - please email email@example.com to book your tickets and obtain payment information.
TOURISM & INTERNATIONAL VISITORS
For those planning their visit to Sydney for the first time (or for the first time in a long time...) and are hoping to stay on for some holiday-ing whilst here for the National, here are some ideas of what your trip may entail.
We would recommend flying into Sydney early so that you can enjoy exploring our lovely CBD and harbour, before relocating west for the National. The Dogs NSW Grounds is at the foothills of Sydney's historic and serene Blue Mountains, so this would be a perfect next destination following our weekend of BC fun and festivity! Or why not stay on a little longer still, and enjoy a relaxing getaway to the Hunter Valley or Southern Highlands before flying out.
